Sorry guys about not getting on last night I got a bit under the weather. We have an issue we need a resalution to. Who is providing the neck block? If John How is mount the nec and providing the neck block then the rim needs to go to John. I do not think this is good as the rim will need to go to John to have the block installed then to Paul for for back profile and back installation then to Bruce for the top then back to John to fit the neck. Paul would you be willing to install a un-mortised neck block. That way you can profile and glueup the rim. Then send the box to Bruce to profile and install the top. At that point the box goes to Brock for binding and purf. From there to John for neck fit up. |

About the neck, I will provide the neck material, carve and fit. What I would like to do is a total bolt on similar to the OLF guitar. If the neck block has already been glued in without a FB extension block, that is ok, I'll do it like Sylvan does. If the neck black has not yet been installed then I'd like a block, 5/8" to 3/4" thick glued to the top of the neck block the same width as the neck block, extending towards the sound hole to the transverse brace. It should include a slot for the trus rod if it is to be adjusted from the sound hole. There was some talk about making this a butt jointed neck and that is fine also. Either way butt or tenon. Yeah, I can do this. What material do you all want it made from. I generally use mahogany but am open to just about anything. John H. I go 3" deep on my upper block, does that work with your mortise cutting? Is baltic birch ok for this or would you rather have solid wood. |
